Now, whilst his name may evoke images of the bearded, barbarian marauders who invaded Britain in the 400 AD’s;

‘Saxon’ who has to be a good 6’3 and almost as broad does have the physical presence that fits the name.

Yet, creatively and personality wise he couldn’t be further removed that initial presumption.

So awhile ago, Saxon and I were at work shooting the s**t as you do and the discussion turned to stuff we do outside of the hamster cage and he said to me “spoken word poetry”

I blinked back at him and asked him if he had any content online that would give me a better understanding of what SWP was? And so he did.

Lo and behold it turns out my homeboy a lowkey poet, rapper, videomaking, content creating machine superstar!

I was intrigued and needed to know more. My last interaction with poetry had been during my A level years and that had been from a book and a blackboard so I wanted to know more about this unique style of storytelling

If you thought lyric writing and video creation would be enough to keep him busy, think again. Saxon is also the brains behind Sapiosocial (Sapio—from the Latin sapere, meaning “to be wise,” “to have sense,” or “to know.” And well, now you know—haha).

Sapiosocial is an event created by Saxon that aims to bring together a collective of like-minded, independent, up-and-coming urban artists. Performers come from a wide range of genres, including spoken word poetry, hip-hop, soul, live music—and the list keeps growing as the event continues to gain momentum.

I was given a VIP invite to the March 2025 show in Dalston, North London (innit), where I had the privilege of witnessing live performances by some truly remarkable artists. Based on what I saw, they all have a bright future ahead in their respective crafts.
